Together with our partner, the Western Invasives Network, we would like to present information about twelve of the species considered to be noxious weed in the Willamette Valley. For more information contact: Troy Abercrombie, 541-910-8769 or by email at weeds@cascadepacific.org.
UNDERSTANDING INVASIVE SPECIES...
An invasive species is an introduced organism that becomes overpopulated and harms its new environment. Although most introduced species are neutral or beneficial with respect to other species, invasive species adversely affect habitats and bioregions, causing ecological, environmental, and/or economic damage. Since the 20th century, invasive species have become a serious economic, social, and environmental threat.
Invasion of long-established ecosystems by organisms is a natural phenomenon, but human-facilitated introductions have greatly increased the rate, scale, and geographic range of invasion.
Together with our partner, the Western Invasives Network, we would like to present information about twelve of the species considered to be noxious weed in the Willamette Valley.
